the years First Baptist Church has been discussing and researching the
possibility of creating a columbarium on the church campus. Several months ago our Minister of Music,
Glen Adkins, who has provided great leadership for this project, sent a survey
to the members of our congregation to determine their interest in our church
providing such a columbarium.
December a task force was organized by the Finance Committee, and with the
leadership of this task force, there has been significant progress. The Church Advisory Board and Finance
Committee have authorized us to proceed and to more clearly define support from
a year ago, a columbarium consulting firm was engaged and a plan has been
developed. Included is an artist’s
rendering of the columbarium that we are considering. The plan is that this would be constructed
north of the breezeway between the library and the sanctuary. This will be a beautiful setting for a
purpose of this letter is to provide this limited status report, and more
importantly, to ascertain the interest in our congregation so that we may
continue to move forward with this project.
In the near future, a proposal will be presented at Church in
you are interested in acquiring a niche in the columbarium or not, we would
welcome the opportunity to visit with you to provide more details about the
project. The names and contact
information for the members of our task force are here provided.
We hope to hear from you.
